Our Projects

The Jay C. Hormel Nature Center opened a leading-edge Interpretive Center in April of 2017. After compiling a list of appropriate options, an energy-efficient bird-safe glass was selected for use in all exterior windows in the 10,000+ square foot building. Working with the Nature Center staff, city employees and contractors we seamlessly incorporated effective and elegant bird-safe glass into the landmark project.

The glass option selected was finished with a matrix of white dots. The pattern on the exterior of the window breaks up the reflection of the sky and surrounding habitat and creates spaces that even small songbirds register as too small to pass through.

Roaring Fork Ecological Consulting contributed the text and images for a museum-style interpretive panel to educate visitors about the appearance and function of the glass. Located on a  500+ acre nature preserve, the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center attracts thousands of yearly visitors. Our partnership with this leading institution will have a lasting impact for people and wildlife alike.
